When a wheel is the right choice
A wheel works best when everybody can see the options before the decision is made. It is useful for classrooms, meetings, games and group choices because the available outcomes stay visible throughout the spin. If the animation is not important and you only need an answer quickly, an instant picker may be the simpler option.
Example: choosing from six dinner options
Add Pizza, Curry, Tacos, Sushi, Burgers and Pasta as six separate choices. With equal weights, each starts with the same chance. If everyone agrees that Curry should count twice, give it a weight of 2 while the others stay at 1. The wheel then reflects that preference openly rather than hiding it.
Keep the wheel honest
Only include choices you would actually accept. A wheel is not very helpful if half the results will be ignored afterwards. Check accidental duplicates, decide whether weights are really needed and agree on whether a selected option should be removed before the first spin.
Wheel or instant picker?
Use Spin the Wheel when the selection should feel visible and shared. Random Choice Picker is better when you already have a list and want the answer immediately. Both can make an equal random choice, but the wheel is mainly about showing the process while the picker is mainly about speed.
