More Useful Guidance

Random does not have to mean every possible colour

RGB mode is useful when you want broad colour exploration with no particular visual family in mind. HSL controls are better when the result should stay within a certain hue, saturation or lightness range. Limiting those ranges lets you keep the surprise of random selection while avoiding colours that clearly do not fit the task.

Example: random muted blues

Use HSL mode, narrow the hue to the blue region and reduce the saturation range so the results are less vivid. Keep lightness away from the very darkest and brightest extremes. Each generated colour then varies randomly inside those limits, producing a more focused set than unrestricted RGB generation.

A random set is not automatically a palette

Several individually attractive random colours may clash when used together. If you are building a real interface, brand or illustration, treat the generated values as inspiration and check contrast and harmony afterwards. Accessibility contrast also depends on the colours being used together, not simply on whether one colour looks light or dark.
